Faculty Notices

A faculty is a permissive right to undertake works to a church building or its contents. Under the provisions of the Care of Churches and Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction Measure 1991, all works, alterations and additions to parish churches, their churchyards and contents require faculty approval.

The faculty legislation requires that public notices shall be displayed at any church where an application is made.  Churches are also encouraged to publish applications on their websites.

The faculty system is explained by the Church of England here.
